Emily Vitrano is an actor, educator, and writer making her creative home in the Chicago area. She most recently played the role of Jenny, a congregant in Lucas Hnath's The Christians, as well as the role of Jenny in A Small Fire by Adam Bock, both at Next Act Theatre in Milwaukee, WI. Emily has worked regionally on many stages, including: Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Next Act Theatre, Renaissance Theaterworks, and Allentown Shakespeare in the Park. Emily has also appeared on television on WTMJ-4 News as the morning traffic reporter, as well as in a national commercial for Batteries Plus Bulbs, and regional commercials for Mills Fleet Farm, Sanford Brown University, and Walgreens. She once played a Featured Dancer (*cough* extra with a title) on the CW hit Gossip Girl and that credit may or may not be her favorite on her resume.
When not onstage, continues to teach and coach the craft of acting as a faculty member at Northern Illinois University and a rotating faculty member with renowned acting teacher Kathryn Gately and the Gately/Poole Conservatory.
She holds an MFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University and a BFA in Acting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association and is represented by Talent X Alexander in Chicago.
When not being creative, Emily enjoys taking short walks that she hopes *fingers crossed* will turn into long runs, ogling other peoples' dogs, drinking too much coffee and watching old episodes of 30 Rock. She also enjoys laughing... a lot.
